Latest Site & Practice Update: 22/11/2025

WCSS continues to grow and evolve to ensure its services remain modern, effective, and fit for purpose. A key focus is on delivering the most up‑to‑date and informative content, while carefully considering security and privacy impacts. This update highlights recent improvements designed to enhance the usability of the website, provide users with the tools they need to stay safe online, and introduce a number of administrative refinements.
A New Official Custom Email Address

WCSS has updated its primary email address from wright.css@protonmail.com to ben@wrightcounsellingwcss.com. This change was made because a significant amount of correspondence was being filtered into spam. One of the main reasons for this was the use of a non‑custom domain, which lacked the authentication protocols required to pass reliably through email servers. By moving to a custom domain, emails are now more easily recognised as authentic, having passed multiple verification processes.
Another advantage of using a custom domain is greater control over GDPR compliance, rather than relying solely on host‑defined policies. All mail continues to be routed through ProtonMail’s servers, which are well known for their strict privacy protections. I subscribe to ProtonMail’s paid plan to ensure there is no data exchange or leakage with third‑party companies, even though these protections are also available on the free plan.
You can still use wright.css@protonmail.com, as all correspondence will continue to reach the same inbox. However, the new address ben@wrightcounsellingwcss.com is now the preferred contact.
A New Supervision Section
Supervision has been available through WCSS for some time, and we are pleased to announce the addition of a dedicated section on our website. This new space provides an overview of what supervision involves and highlights the professionals who can benefit from the service in their work. The section will be regularly updated to ensure it remains relevant and informative. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to get in touch—there is always room for improvement
Saftey Switches & Images Across the WCSS Site
The WCSS website now features what we call “safety buttons” integrated into images across the site. These buttons, links, and switches provide quick redirects to external pages when clicked. For example, clicking on any image will take you to a Google search result filled with cat GIFs. In addition, desktop users will notice a green padlock button at the top of the header section. When selected, this will redirect you to BBC Cooking, where you can explore a variety of dessert recipes.
Why?
For peace of mind, the WCSS site includes a quick‑exit feature designed for situations where you may feel at risk or simply do not want others to see that you are seeking support. By clicking the link, the site will redirect within approximately 1.2 seconds from WCSS.com to Google.com. . While this does not erase your browser history, it provides a fast way to leave the site if you are concerned about being watched. This feature is particularly important for individuals experiencing domestic abuse, offering a discreet option to protect their privacy and safety.
Why not just the browser home button ?
Clicking the home button and navigating to another site can take time and increase risk for vulnerable users who may be watched in their physical environment. The quick‑exit options built into the WCSS site are designed to reduce thought and response time, helping users leave the site safely and discreetly.
Redirects such as cat GIFs or cooking recipes are unlikely to raise suspicion. Cat GIFs are light‑hearted and distracting, while cooking searches suggest care for those around you. These links are intended to provide a believable backstory that can divert attention, giving you more time to think and reducing the risk of being questioned. This is not about deception—it is about being safe and smart, and only you can judge when you feel secure.
WCSS understand that people seek help for many reasons, and sadly, there are times when others may not want us to access the support we need. If you are in immediate danger, please contact the police in your country. State clearly where you are, who you are, and any details that may help them locate you. Remember, calling the police does not require minutes, text credit, or even signal—only a charged battery. WCSS is based in the United Kingdom, where the emergency number is 999. In the United States, it is 911.
Section Audio Playback
WCSS offers a wide range of services, and I want to ensure that as much information as possible is available for people to access and refer to when needed. To complement the written content, I’ve introduced an accessibility feature that allows audio playback of the main text. This means that if you prefer listening rather than reading, you can now do so easily. The audio option can be found at the top of each page.
At present, the “About Me” section includes this feature, and over the coming updates, audio will also be added to the supervision, counselling, and online counselling sections. The blog section will include audio playback as well. Feedback is always welcome, as there is room to keep improving and making the site more accessible
