Playful & Steady Growth With Catnip
Catnip is a lively, uplifting little plant that responds beautifully to gentle, consistent care. This sprout is offered as a reminder that growth can be playful, steady, and full of character — something small you can nurture at your own pace.
How to Care for Your Catnip
- Light — Catnip enjoys bright, indirect sunlight. A windowsill with soft daylight is ideal.
- Water — Keep the soil lightly moist. Water when the top layer feels dry to the touch.
- Growth — As it grows, catnip becomes fuller and more expressive. A light trim encourages bushiness and keeps it healthy.
- Potting — When roots peek through the bottom of the pot, move it to a slightly larger container with fresh compost.
- Companionship — Catnip is hardy and forgiving. It grows well with a little attention and a bit of curiosity.
Why Catnip?
Catnip is chosen for its gentle energy and playful nature. It grows with enthusiasm, responds well to small acts of care, and offers something uplifting in return.
It’s a reminder that growth doesn’t always have to be serious — it can be light, curious, and quietly joyful.

Every cat responds differently, and a small amount goes a long way.Fresh leaves can be offered occasionally, or dried leaves can be sprinkled on toys or scratchers.
How to Harvest Catnip for Your Cat
If you’d like to share a little of your catnip sprout with a cat, you can prepare it easily and safely. A small amount is enough to create a moment of joy, curiosity, or calm.
1. Choose healthy leaves
Pick a few fresh, green leaves from the plant.Avoid any that look yellow, wilted, or dusty — cats respond best to clean, fragrant leaves.
2. Rinse gently
Give the leaves a quick rinse under cool water and pat them dry. This keeps the scent pure and removes any bits of soil.
3. Release the aroma
Catnip’s effect comes from its natural oils. You can bruise the leaves lightly between your fingers to release more scent.(Just a gentle pinch — no need to crush them.)
4. Offer it in small amounts
Cats only need a tiny bit.You can:
- place a leaf on the floor for them to sniff,
- tuck a leaf into a favourite toy,
- or crumble a small amount onto a scratcher or blanket.
5. Drying catnip (optional)
If you want to save some for later:
- Spread the leaves out on a clean surface.
- Let them air‑dry for a few days until crisp.
- Store in a small jar or tin. Dried catnip often has a stronger scent and lasts longer.
6. Notice their response
Every cat reacts differently. Some become playful and energetic; others become calm and content. A few may not respond at all — which is perfectly normal.
