  • ''I initially started counselling with Ben as a student counsellor for my qualification and by the time I fulfilled this part of my diploma, Ben helped me to see things about myself that I really wanted to address.

I continued therapy with him and found Ben to be a reliable, empathic professional, who just gets me. His insights are refreshing and the space he provides is safe and warm. I've had so many positive changes to my life thanks to him and the compassionate way he works. I would recommend Ben in a heartbeat to anybody who is looking for counselling that gets to the soul of your challenges.''

When I first reached out, I was struggling and facing long waiting lists for support. Working with Ben weekly has been an incredibly positive experience. He creates a space where I feel safe, listened to, and never judged, which has made it much easier to open up.

Before starting therapy, my self-worth felt as though it was in the negatives. While I may not radiate confidence yet, I can honestly say I have gained some—and that means a great deal. For the first time, I actually look forward to our sessions, which is something I never experienced with therapists in the past. I’m deeply grateful for the support and consistency he provides.

"I really appreciated how you showed that you trusted that I knew what I wanted/needed for myself, and the respect you showed for that. You seemed completely onboard with whatever direction I chose, in prioritising my needs, and there was a real sense of you being present for me, so thank you!"

"I feel very supported and held by Ben. He holds a very safe and non judgemental space where I can be myself. I've been going through a rough journey both career and relationship wise in my mid 40s and he makes me feel heard without casting any assumptions, whilst providing very helpful insights and observations, which deepen my self awareness and self reflection. He's also been incredibly helpful on my journey as a trainer counsellor and I've felt a gradual improvement in my self confidence in this area whilst working with him. I wouldn't have any hesitation in recommending Ben as a counsellor no matter what your background or issue."

"I worked with Ben Wright as my clinical supervisor for around fifteen months, spanning my training, placement, and the early days of setting up my own practice. Looking back, I honestly can’t imagine a more steady, human, and person centred presence to have alongside me during that time.

Ben doesn’t just talk about the person centred approach, he lives it. His way of being is deeply rooted in empathy, unconditional positive regard, and congruence, and that shows up consistently in the room. I never felt managed, corrected, or subtly “taught at.” Instead, I felt accompanied. He held the space for me to explore my developing practice in my own way, at my own pace, with trust that I already had the capacity within me.

What stood out most was the lack of hierarchy. Despite his experience and knowledge, he never once positioned himself as superior. Supervision felt collaborative and relational, not evaluative. That allowed me to be completely honest, including about the messy bits. When I brought insecurities, doubts, or moments where I’d got something wrong, he met me with curiosity and compassion rather than judgement. I always left feeling clearer and more grounded, never smaller.

He supported me through some particularly challenging client presentations and the inevitable wobbles that come with training and early practice. He helped me sit with my incongruence, think ethically, and trust my own judgement. And he celebrated the wins too, which mattered more than I realised at the time.

One moment that really stayed with me was towards the end of our work together, when he shared his own vulnerability. He told me that at the beginning he’d wondered whether he could meet my needs because of my passion for theory and training. That honesty and congruence summed him up perfectly. He models the very qualities he invites in others.

If you’re looking for counselling supervision that is genuinely person centred, relational, and rooted in trust rather than authority, I can’t recommend Ben highly enough. Whether you’re a trainee counsellor, in placement, or an established practitioner wanting reflective, ethical, and compassionate supervision, you will be in very safe hands.

Working with him has shaped not just how I practise, but how I am as a counsellor."

"I appreciate having a space to reflect and bring anything that feels “right” at the time (whether that’s about learners/staff/school politics/personal issues) and that it is all welcome. I feel like I can speak in sessions in the same way that I would journal. I have lots of other relationships in my life that I value greatly but I feel that none of them offer the dynamic that our supervision sessions do. I am always “on the go” and it’s so nice to have a space to slow down and reflect on my stuff/not be listening to other people’s difficulties/worrying about my “to do” lists."
